Vaagai Awards (2022)

Vaagai Festival Awards Nomination Form 2022, The objective of Vaagai Community Festival 2022 is to celebrate not only the Tamil culture but also other cultures in the SA community via promoting their artforms; to recognise and honour members (individuals/families/businesses) of the Tamil community in Adelaide, who have been tirelessly contributing to South Australia in various ways; to also recognise non-Tamil Community Organisations in SA that have been encouraging multiculturalism; and to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Vaagai Adelaide Tamil Broadcasting Service and its tremendous volunteers.

In order to honour and recognise the contributions of Tamils to the South Australian community, Vaagai has come up with the idea of presenting appreciation awards at this community festival. Please use this nomination form to nominate individuals that you consider are worthy of being recognised for their contributions to SA.

The categories of awards are as follows:
1. Children (up to 18 yrs):
1) Tamil Arts, Culture & Language – An individual who has significantly contributed to the betterment of Tamil Arts, Culture & Langauge through achievements or volunteering
2) Special Jury Award (Individuals who have contributed to or have achieved in other areas such as academia/entrepreneurship/extracurricular activities such as sports)

2. Youths (18 to 30 yrs):
1) Tamil Arts, Culture & Language – An individual who has significantly contributed to the betterment of Tamil Arts, Culture & Langauge through achievements or volunteering
2) Voluntary Contribution towards creating a Multicultural Society – individuals who have dedicated their time for multiculturalism in SA.
3) Special Jury Award (Individuals who have contributed to or have achieved in other areas such as academia/entrepreneurship/extracurricular activities such as sports)

3. Women (over 30 yrs):
1) Tamil Arts, Culture & Language – An individual who has significantly contributed to the betterment of Tamil Arts, Culture & Langauge through achievements or volunteering
2) Voluntary Contribution towards creating a Multicultural Society – individuals who have dedicated their time for multiculturalism in SA.
3) Empowerment – Individuals who have empowered others through their achievements and/or contributions in areas such as academia, entrepreneurship and other extracurricular fields.

4. Men (over 30 yrs):
1) Tamil Arts, Culture & Language – An individual who has significantly contributed to the betterment of Tamil Arts, Culture & Langauge through achievements or volunteering
2) Voluntary Contribution towards creating a Multicultural Society – individuals who have dedicated their time for multiculturalism in SA.
3) Entrepreneurial/business achievement – Individuals who have succeeded in the area of business in SA.

5. Families:
1) Tamil Arts, Culture & Language – A family that has significantly contributed to the betterment of Tamil Arts, Culture & Langauge through achievements or volunteering
2) Voluntary Contribution towards creating a Multicultural Society – A family that has dedicated its time for multiculturalism in SA.
3) Special Jury Award (a family that has contributed to or has achieved in other areas such as academia/entrepreneurship/extracurricular activities such as sports)

6. Lifetime Achievement :
Seniors from the SA Tamil community who have contributed to the betterment of SA over the years.

7. Emerging Entrepreneurs:
Tamil individuals who are working hard to achieve in the area of business, whose efforts must be recognised.

8. Memorial Recognition Award:
A deceased Tamil community member, whose contribution to the SA community must be remembered and recognised.

9. Tamil or non-Tamil SA Community Organisations:
An organisation that has been contributing to multiculturalism in SA and has been supporting individuals in SA in various ways.
